Have you set up Lesson Based Debiting at your leisure facility? This new Envibe feature makes charging people for swimming lessons and other on-site courses fairer and less time consuming for leisure centre staff.

This month we spoke with two of the Envibe users who have introduced it at their facilities, with outstanding results.

What is Lesson Based Debiting?

Lesson Based Debiting gives Envibe users the option to charge swim school and other leisure course participants based on the number of lessons they will attend in their debiting cycle. It can be implemented to replace the older default day-based debiting set up which charges course participants based on the number of days in a debiting cycle.

Implementing Lesson Based Debiting in Envibe’s Courses module eliminates the need to bulk-credit swim school, gymnastic program and other course participants retrospectively if classes are cancelled, saving staff time and improving the customer experience.

The difference it is making for users

One of the first Envibe users to make the switch to lesson-based debiting was the Royal Life Saving Aquatic Academy in NSW. The Academy runs swimming lessons at venues in Denistone East in Northern Sydney and Seven Hills in Western Sydney, teaching hundreds of children the skills they need to survive, and thrive, when swimming.

Seven Hills Swim School Supervisor Suzie Childs says making the change has improved the visitor experience and reduced confusion among customers.

“Previously, customers would be charged and then we would need to add a bulk credit to these customers after the fact,” she says.

“This function has been a fantastic aid in our direct debit system and helping to put our customers at ease knowing they will only be charged for lessons that the centre is open for.”

Similar results have been reported by Ashburton District Council, in New Zealand. The council runs swimming lessons at its modern EA Networks Centre; a community hub which boasts four indoor pools, a spa and steam room, four indoor courts, two outdoor courts and meeting rooms.

Ashburton District Council Sports Facility Manager Richard Wood says the making the change to Lesson Based Debiting for swimming lessons run at the leisure centre has reduced the amount of time staff spend on administering credits to customers.

“Lesson Based Debiting has allowed us to free up valuable staff time to focus on providing the best Swim Education experience possible,” he says.
